Tiger Woods Announces Own Clothing Brand ‘Sun Day Red’ with TaylorMade

Tiger Woods Launches Own Brand 'Sun Day Red' with TaylorMade

After an illustrious 27-year partnership with Nike, Tiger Woods is embarking on a new venture, leaving the iconic swoosh behind but taking his signature Sunday red with him. Ahead of his appearance at the 2024 Genesis Invitational, where he’ll be both playing and hosting, the golf legend announced the launch of Sun Day Red, a new active premium lifestyle brand, in collaboration with TaylorMade.

Woods, at the launch event, shared, “It’s the right time in my life. I’m transitioning. I’m not the young kid on the block anymore. I have a family, and launching a brand that reflects this new phase in my life is something I take great pride in.”

The unveiling of “Sun Day Red” featured a display of the brand’s apparel range, including hoodies, polos, outerwear, and hats, showcasing the brand’s commitment to merging golf with lifestyle fashion.

“Sun Day Red” is set to operate as an independent entity within the TaylorMade family, with its own design team, staff, and headquarters. The brand’s logo, featuring a tiger silhouette with 15 stripes representing Woods’ 15 major championships, symbolizes the golfer’s illustrious career.

Woods, enthusiastic about the venture, mentioned, “Over the years, I’ve gained invaluable experience on how apparel and footwear can enhance performance. I’m excited to share these insights through ‘Sun Day Red.'”

The brand draws its name from Woods’ traditional Sunday attire, a nod to his Thai heritage and his mother’s belief in red as his power color. When asked about the possibility of future major wins affecting the logo, Woods humorously remarked on the need to update the trademark.

David Abeles, CEO of TaylorMade Golf, emphasized the independence of “Sun Day Red” from TaylorMade, underlining it as a partnership without direct influence. Brad Blankinship, known for his work with surf brands like Quiksilver and RVCA, steps in as the president of the new company.

Abeles announced plans to launch men’s golf apparel first, with ambitions to expand into lifestyle clothing for women and children. He also confirmed the introduction of footwear, including a golf shoe and lifestyle options, with expectations of Woods debuting the footwear later in the year.

Since 2017, Woods has been associated with TaylorMade for his golf clubs, a relationship that has now evolved beyond equipment to apparel with this latest venture. Following the announcement, the “Sun Day Red” website went live, with the first apparel line set to launch in the United States and Canada on May 1.

Woods is scheduled to don “Sun Day Red” apparel during the upcoming PGA Tour event at Riviera Country Club, marking a new chapter in his career, both on and off the course. Last year, despite undergoing ankle fusion surgery after the Masters, Woods expressed his intention to compete in at least one tournament each major season month, showcasing his undiminished passion for the game.
